A Doctor Who Serves

A board-certified specialist in pediatrics and trauma, Governor Colyer has treated over 20,000 patients and remains on-call at three Kansas City trauma centers. He has volunteered in more than 25 war zones and disaster areas — serving as the only surgeon in southern Rwanda during the genocide and, in 2024, treating patients in eastern Ukraine.

In Sierra Leone, he led International Medical Corps efforts to surgically remove rebel brands from hundreds of former child soldiers, restoring their futures.

As Kansas’s 47th Governor and longest-serving 49th Lieutenant Governor, Governor Colyer drove major reforms — eliminating cabinet-level agencies, cutting state workforce headcount by over 10%, and privatizing Medicaid via KanCare, making Kansas the first state to do so while improving outcomes and saving billions.
